In many countries, young people are frustrated. They lack good employment prospects and do not have a say in public life. To make a difference, education must be geared to labour market demand – which it is not in most cases. But even the best skills training does not help much when an economy is not generating enough jobs. All too often, youngsters are stuck in the informal sector. Where real opportunities arise, however, young people will certainly grasp them. In any case, young people share the fate of their nations – and their nation’s future will be marked by what they learn today.
