German development budget 2008

Germany’s Development Ministry (BMZ) will have significantly more money at its disposal in 2008 than in 2007. The BMZ budget is set to increase by 15 % to € 5.2 billion. The Federal Government’s budget for 2008 was approved by the Bundestag in late November, after some minor changes decided in the Budget Committee. The Committee cut some contributions to multilateral institutions like the World Bank and European Development Fund, whereas it increased sums earmarked for bilateral cooperation, partnerships with the private sector and support for non-governmental agencies (including churches).
