In regard to global heating, 2021 will prove to be a decisive year. The Paris Agreement on Climate Change obliges all nations to scale up their nationally determined contributions ahead of the climate summit COP26 in Scotland in November. The committments made so far do not suffice for achieving the goals that the international community adopted at COP21 in Paris in 2015. Every country must act fast and do more to make its economy climate-neutral. Moreover, the countries that are exposed to great climate risks need more support.
Climate action, the topic of this briefing, is the United Nations’ 13th Sustainable Development Goal (SDG). It has a bearing on all other SDGs.
